Alo Solutions is a Female led, Afro-Indigenous owned Software Development Company. A purpose-driven start-up, Alo Solutions is focused on improving the lives of those working in and affected by the Canadian Child Welfare system. Alo’s software is designed to take the guesswork out of the application process for both the applicant and the agency. Their cloud base SaaS system automates the Foster Care, Adoption, Kinship and Customary Care application process.

Alo Solutions is here to alleviate some of the pressure of growing caseloads, help advocate for a Child Welfare system that supports families to stay intact and help provide nurturing assistance through difficult situations and limited agency funding. Alo Solutions is designed to address systemic issues that contribute to the overrepresentation of Indigenous and African Canadian children in care.

Sarah Sparks, Co-Founder & CEO

Sarah Sparks has worked in the IT sector for more than 10 years, and focused on digital transformation and helping businesses transition to the cloud.

She has worked with large technology companies to create go-to market strategies specifically for within Canada. Becoming a foster parent had always been a goal. While researching and starting the process, she was made painfully aware of the over representation of Black and Indigenous children and youth in care, two groups she herself belongs to. She encountered a disconnect between applicant expectations and agency engagement due to timelines and the overwhelming caseloads child welfare professionals were given. She felt this was an issue innovation could improve and Alo Solutions was born.

Devin Edward, Co-Founder & COO

Devin has worked in IT for over 10 years. Working alongside multiple teams and lending assistance to the highest levels, helped him understand the business and technical needs of companies of all sizes early in his career.

Devin now lends his experience and expertise to the Alo Solutions leadership team as Director of Operations and acting Technical Director. Devin is a mixed-race Indigenous person who brings Alo Solutions his understanding of business, technology, and critical theory through an indigenous lens. He is certified in non-violent conflict resolution, with a focus on DEI and anti-oppression principals.

The Campaign

With first-mover advantage, Niños Technology Inc. (operating as Alo Solutions) is the only company in Canada offering tools and solutions that are cloud-based SaaS and customizable Customer Relationship Management (CRM).

Alo Solutions launched an equity crowdfunding campaign in early November 2021 to fund development of their platform, hiring, as well as the acquisition of new customers, among other uses.

During their campaign, Alo Solutions was interviewed by APTN's InFocus with Melissa Rigden on the critical role Alo can play in addressing many of the systemic issues facing the Canadian Child welfare system. You can watch the piece that was recorded LIVE HERE. Alo appears at 45:42.

By late December, Alo closed their campaign with $33,883.57 raised, 135.53% of their target funding goal.
