Renewable Clean Energy for the World

About Swordfish Energy Corporation

Swordfish Energy is a purpose-driven enterprise focused specifically on renewable clean energy through the use of its disruptive underwater turbine design. Swordfish Horizontal Axis, Bi-Directional Turbines are the most advanced underwater turbines in the industry. They can operate in more locations worldwide, including deep water, nearshore, and river environments producing clean, dependable energy up to 2 megawatts per unit, or gigawatts when established in arrays. Swordfish energy output can be predicted years in advance operating above 90% efficiency. That’s more than double the efficiency of wind and solar and 60% more efficient than nuclear power generation.

Swordfish Renewable Clean Energy Turbines are better!

These are more than a dozen key reasons why Swordfish outperforms all other tidal stream turbines;

  1. Swordfish Turbines are less costly to purchase, transport, install and maintain.

  2. Anticipated 30%+ reduction in the Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE).

  3. Low profile, bi-directional, self-cleaning, flow-through, non-resistive design.

  4. Are scalable from 2.5M to 12M in length .05 to 2 Megawatts.

  5. Can be ‘stacked’ to increase output to 6 Megawatts or more within a single footprint.

  6. Megawatts to Terawatts of Predictable, Dependable, Renewable Clean Energy.

  7. More ‘placement locations’ – near-shore or off-shore ocean, estuaries and rivers.

  8. Marine mammal and sea creature friendly. Enhances local habitat.

  9. Creates permanent creature and plant friendly reefs using eco-friendly “Roman’ concrete.

  10. Projected device service life of 20+ years.

  11. Close to 90% efficiency. More than double the efficiency of wind, solar and nuclear.

  12. Robust, Semi-Buoyant, Self-Cleaning.

  13. Composite construction and made with recyclable, reusable materials.

Practical Cost of Ownership

The overall technology and design of Swordfish Turbines make the cost of ownership far more practical and less expensive than typical propeller-style turbines.

The gentle rotation of the self-cleaning hydrophobic 'wings' provides safe passage for sea life whilst discouraging crustacean and other sessile growth and repelling sub-surface debris.

The mounting cradle for Swordfish ocean-based turbines are permanently affixed to the seabed and designed to promote reef and surrounding plant life growth, making Swordfish the most universally usable underwater turbine in the industry without sacrificing energy output.

Other Key Attributes

Sustainable/Reduced CO2 emissions - Swordfish Turbines are made with recycled materials and are ultimately recyclable themselves. Each Swordfish turbine installed over its 25 year service life could offset 8,147 tonnes of CO2

Energy Production - Swordfish turbines are designed to be placed in ocean depths, shallow nearshore or suitable river locations. An opportunity that other tidal turbine systems cannot take advantage of is the Swordfish Turbine for rivers. The river turbine can be scaled to suit river depths and can be established in a single-file array to service all sizes of communities in reasonable proximity to river flow.

High Efficiency – Swordfish Turbines operate above 80% efficiency. That is more than double the efficiency of Wind and Solar, and 60% greater efficiency than Nuclear.

Out of Sight – Swordfish low-profile underwater turbines are completely invisible. Totally hidden from view, quietly delivering predictable clean energy from a source that has been reliable since the beginning of time.

Recyclable - Unlike acres of off-shore solar panels, or landscapes cluttered with vast numbers of wind turbines, neither of which can be recycled, or disposed of efficiently. Swordfish Turbines are 100% recyclable and reusable!

Highly Robust and Reliable - An important major difference between Swordfish and other turbines is the generator configuration. Other turbine systems have a single 1 or 2 Megawatt generator, rotated via a high-gear-ratio transmission, powered by ‘resistive’ propeller style (aerofoil) blades (usually 3). All of these components are under constant and extreme stress, and as such, these components are common points of failure. If ANY of these components fail, the entire turbine is off-line. Dead in the water, requiring immediate service, regardless of weather conditions to get back online

Swordfish Turbines are Substantially Different! - Swordfish power comes from the combined output of multiple high-kilowatt axial-flux generators. There is no transmission or geared system. Each generator operates silently via the Company’s proprietary ‘Planetary EnergyPod©, (PEP©), a proprietary ‘direct drive’ system with only one moving part per generator. The failure of a single generator for any reason would only mean a small reduction in output, whilst the remaining generators continue to perform. Even if several generators were to fail, the Swordfish Turbine will continue meeting the majority of its power delivery requirements.

Ease of Maintenance - As Swordfish Turbines have ‘near neutral buoyancy’, Swordfish is designed to be easily raised to the surface for periodic routine maintenance during ‘slack tide’, and then lowered back to its cradle for the next tidal flow. The ‘non-resistive,’ ‘roll with the flow’ design takes advantage of the power of the ocean’s currents rather than resisting them, ensuring smooth operation, without destructive cavitation or the damaging physical stress of fighting the tidal onslaught.

Cost/Competitiveness - Swordfish Turbines will be less expensive to buy, less expensive to install and less expensive to maintain, making them the most practical renewable clean energy source available in the world today, creating a substantially lower Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE).
Swordfish management projects a nearly 30% lower Levelized Cost of Electricity LCOE than competitive renewable energy sources.

 How do we do it?

✓ Lower cost of manufacturing
✓ Fewer maintenance calls
✓ Lower cost of maintenance
✓ Projected over a 20 year service life = Renewable Clean Energy at lower costs for consumers.

Pitch Deck

Disruptive Technology is an innovation that significantly alters the way that consumers, industries, or businesses operate. A disruptive technology sweeps away the systems or habits it replaces because it has attributes that are recognizably superior.” (Investopedia)

“Disruptive innovations tend to be produced by outsiders and entrepreneurs in start-ups, rather than existing market-leading companies.” (Wikipedia)

Swordfish Tidal Turbines are all this -- and more, and truly are ‘Disruptive’ Technology!
