Investment Process on Equivesto

This page provides step by step instructions of how to complete an investment online with Equivesto. 

We recommend investors transact via their computer, rather than a mobile phone.  If you have any issues transacting, please contact support@equivesto.com , or try switching from a mobile phone to a computer.  If you are already on a computer, please try switching internet browsers.  


First, log in to Equivesto via https://portal.equivesto.com/login

If you do not have an account yet, you can view the live deals at https://portal.equivesto.com or you can sign up at https://portal.equivesto.com/signup

Once logged in, select the offering you are interested in.

On the campaign page, you can view all of the details about the offering.  Make sure to read them all carefully before investing.  Once you have an account on Equivesto, you can view the documents attached to the campaign page, at the bottom.

Please ensure you read all documents, especially any Offering Documents, including the 45-110 Offering Document or Offering Memorandum before investing.

Once you are ready to invest, please click the ‘Ready to Invest’ button at the top of the campaign page.  Note: If your KYC/AML forms have not been complete and approved by Equivesto the ‘Ready to Invest’ button will say ‘Accredit Now’ and direct you back to your forms prior to being allowed to invest.

STEP 1: Enter the Amount

Once you have selected ready to invest, you will be able to choose the amount you would like to invest.  You can either select the number of securities (shares, units, warrants, etc) you would like to buy, or you can move the slider underneath.

After selecting the amount you would like to invest, you will need to read, understand, and agree to all of the risk declarations to proceed.

STEP 2: Confirm the Amount

On the next page, you can confirm you have selected the correct amount to invest. Click ‘Edit Amount’ if you would like to make a change.

STEP 3: Complete Your Payment


Note: This step may not appear depending on if you are investing directly via Cash OR if you are investing via a registered account (ex. TFSA/RRSP). If you are investing via a registered account and Step 3 appears please STOP and contact a member of the Equivesto team at support@equivesto.com. We will adjust your forms and you will be sent straight to Step 4. Not all offerings on Equivesto are TFSA/RRSP eligible - learn more about TFSA/RRSP investing here.


The next step is to provide your Canadian Bank Account information.

Equivesto moves client funds via electronic funds transfer, one of the most secure way to move funds digitally.  

To transact, you will need to provide your Bank Institution Number, Transit Number, and Account Number.  

These numbers are found on a blank/void check at the bottom, or can be found in a menu of your online banking app.  Please use the diagram below to see which numbers are needed from a blank check for each section.

The institution number is typically 3 digits, the transit number is typically 5 digits, and the account number is typically 7-15 digits. 

Once you information is added, please click the red ‘Pay Now’ button to complete your transaction!

When you transact, the funds are removed from your bank account immediately, so please ensure you have adequate funds in the account when you transact. 

Even though the funds are removed right away, it can take up to 5 business days for the transaction to finalize.  During that time, the transaction will appear in the system as pending, however there is no additional work needed from you.

If there were any issues completing your transaction, the system will cancel it, and automatically notify you.  A member of the Equivesto team will also reach out to you directly.  

If your transaction fails, please start a new transaction if you would still like to invest.  The majority of transactions that are unsuccessful are due to a typo error when adding the bank account details, so please take your time when adding these numbers.

STEP 4: Complete Investment Documents

The final step is to sign your investment paperwork. Your investment document package will be emailed to your Equivesto account email address via RightSignature. If the document does not arrive to your email within a few minutes, please first check your junk email and then reach out to support@equivesto.com for assistance.

In the email you receive, clicking ‘Review & Sign Document’ will open the document package in a new browser tab.

Signing Your Paperwork

There will be two instructions provided to you about how the document works.  

The document will flag areas that are needed for you to complete with a large red Tab.  

Click ‘Got It’ to move to the next instruction.

The next instruction is at the bottom, and describes how the document will keep track for you how many fields you have completed.

Click ‘Got It’ to start signing the document.

The document may have several areas for you to complete.  Some will be required and some may be optional. 

Please read the document carefully to complete all of the necessary sections for you.  

In this example, the signer need to type out the full legal name of the entity investing.   If you are investing as an individual, please type out your full legal name.  If you are investing via a holding company or corporation, please type of the name of the Corporation.  

The middle box is the required signature box.  Clicking this will open the signature window, which we will detail below.  

Below the middle signature box is a third, optional box.  If you are investing as an individual, you can leave this blank.  If you are investing via a corporation or holding company, please provide your personal legal name and role with the company here.

When clicking a signature box, the following window will appear.  This window allows you to draw your signature.  It ALSO allows you to type your signature if you wish, by clicking the ‘TYPE Signature’ instruction in blue.  We recommend typing your signature.  

After completing your signature, click apply to apply it and close the window.  

Once you have completed the mandatory fields on this page of the document, the form will direct you with a red arrow to the next required area.  Clicking this arrow will take you directly to the next section in the document that requires your input.  

Once all areas of the document are completed, the bottom of the document will now have a button to ‘Submit Signature’.  This will complete the document and move to the next investment step.  

For security purposes, the document may ask you to confirm that you are submitting your signature.  Click ‘Submit’ again to continue.  

Once complete, you will receive a confirmation email that your investment document has been submitted and your Signature Status has changed from Pending Investor to Pending Countersign.

You can visit the Transaction History tab of your Equivesto investor account to see your Payment Status and/or Signature Status.
